This Target meeting will be the last one for Father Bob Vitillo, executive director of CCHD. He is leaving to take a position with Caritas International. He will be based in Geneva, Switzerland. Many people from CCHD will miss him. There was a toast and roast for him after the dinner.
| National staff and diocesan directors spell out his last name. V is for vino, I is for Italian, etc. | Maria Elena Segura and Joan Harper, both from L.A., lead the toast. |
| At the presentation John Korcsmar "crowned" him with his Italian cyclist cap. John was said to have come on behalf of Lance Armstrong (as his personal trainer) and made Bob part of the American expatriate European cycling team before the Italians could grab him. | |
| Fr. Bob on his throne. |
Back in Austin Father John Korcsmar did all his tests for the doctors. They took blood. They took pictures. They poked here; they poked there. They looked at him from the inside; they looked at him from the outside. They did tests we don't talk about at the dinner table. After all was said and done, they said John is too fat. Considering all the doctors and tests involved, all the money it cost, John cannot understand how they could get it wrong.
Father Marin Hernández came up from Monterrey to Austin. He has been staying at Dolores Parish. A steady stream of people has been coming to take Marin out to breakfast, lunch, dinner, merienda. John can't figure it out. Maybe Marin just looks hungrier than him.
