Congregation of Holy Cross
Southern Province

The National Enquirer of the

Congregation of Holy Cross

Vol. 16, No. 9

It fiinally happened: Somehow Minerva has it arranged on all of the beloved provincial's trips that he has to walk from one end of the Houston airport to the other to change planes.  But finally, on the trip to Notre Dame the plane from Austin parked right across the corridor for the plane to Chicago.  Nunc dimittis servum tuum, Domine!

Nathan Wills professed his perpetual vows at Sacred Heart Basilica on Saturday, September 3rd.  Fr. David Tyson was the presider and homilist.  There was a very good turnout of Holy Cross religious.  The liturgy was very well done.  There was a reception inside the Main Building on the second and third floors in the rotunda.  A good time was had by all!!

That same evening we all gathered in the Moreau Auditorium to watch the Notre Dame--Pittsburgh game on big screen TV.  Archbishop McDonald and Fr. Peter Rocca managed to meet at halftime and plan out the ceremony for Nathan's ordination to the diaconate the next day.  All were pleased with the final outcome!

The ordination to the diaconate took place at the Moreau Seminary chapel, and all went well.

After the ordination Fr. John Korcsmar went next door to Holy Cross House for dinner.  He sat at table with Fr. Joe Lehane, Fr. Jack Birkmeyer, Fr. Jim Denn, and Fr. Jim Blaes.  We all had an interesting discussion about community events and the latest news from New Orleans.

On September 6, the first Tuesday of the month, the Texas region gathered at Steiner Lodge for the first meeting of the year.  We began with a wonderful meal, served up by Chef Harold (who has culinary experience in New Orleans).  We then shared the latest news of the events that took place over the summer, as well as the news of the hurricane in New Orleans.

On the following page, you can see the new riding mower that Fr. Harold showed to everyone; his provincial sure is thoughtful.
