Early Sunday morning (May 25), Fr. John Korcsmar got up early and went to the airport to catch a plane to Rome, where the Vocations and Formation Commission was meeting. His first flight was to Houston, then to Newark, and then to Rome.
At the airport in Rome, Bro. Joseph Tsiquaye and Fr. Pat Neary were waiting for John as soon as he came out of customs. It was already Monday morning, the next day. We all got settled in at the Teresianas' retreat house, and Bro. Joseph kindly let us spend some time sleeping on Monday.
On Tuesday morning, John sat down at the meeting and looked at his agenda. Holy Shamoli, it was his birthday! He had lost track of the days in his travels--or is it because of his years?? Who knows?
Once all of the meetings were over, Bro. Joseph Tsiquaye takes everyone out to Scacco Matto for dinner. Since John had a birthday, Joe mentioned it to the waiter, and he brought John a bottle of champagne, which, of course, he shared with all.
