Fr. Chris Cox, pastor of St. Adalbert's, comes to the summer celebration as a charro.  There really were two horses there.

The Cushwa Center for the Study of American Catholicism held a Conference entitled: Camino a Emaus, The Word of God and Latinos at Notre Dame.  It was a three day conference. 

Speakers included:

  • Cardinal Francis George of Chicago,
  • Archbishop Gómez from San Antonio,
  • Dr. Renata Furst from Assumption Seminary in San Antonio,
  • Rev. Dr. Raúl Gómez Ruiz, S.D.S., Sacred Heart School of Theology, Hales Corners, WI;
  • Rev. Dr. Juan Alfaro, Archdiocese of San Antonio;
  • Dr. Jaime Lara, Yale University;
  • Archbishop Nikola Eterović, General Secretary of the Synod, Vatican City;
  •  Rev. Dr. Eduardo Fernández, S.J., Jesuit School of Theology and the Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley, California;
  • Cardinal Theodore McCarrick from Washington, D.C.

There were a number of people known to Holy Cross religious, such as Alfonso Mirabal (Diocese of Dallas, Dallas Area Interfaith) and Sr. Rosario, CMST, director of Hispanic Ministry, Archdiocese of Oklahoma City; Fr. Frank Quesada, director of Hispanic Ministry, Diocese of Colorado Springs.

Archbishop José Gómez gave a talk on the future of Hispanic ministry.  Cardinal McCarrick listened attentively to all the talks.  He was the principal celebrant at the closing liturgy.
