Father Chris Cox, pastor of St. Adalbert's Parish in South Bend, came to the summer celebration at the parish as a charro.  Yes, there were horses, but we did not see Chris on one of them.

The Cushwa Center for the Study of American Catholicism at Notre Dame held a conference entitled, Camino a Emaus, the Word of God and Latino Catholics.  The speakers included:
  • Cardinal Francis George, Archdiocese of Chicago and President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops;
  • Dr. Renata Furst, Assumption Seminary, San Antonio;
  • Rev. Dr. Raúl Gómez Ruiz, S.D.S., Sacred Heart School of Theology, Hales Corners, WI;
  • Rev. Arturo Pérez-Rodríguez, Archdiocese of Chicago;
  • Rev. Dr. Juan Alfaro, Archdiocese of San Antonio; Dr. Jaime Lara, Yale University;
  • Archbishop Nikola Eterović, General Secretary of the Synod, Vatican City;
  • Rev. Dr. Eduardo Fernández, S.J., Jesuit School of Theology and the Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley, California;
  • Hermana Glenda, Casa de Espiritualidad Siquem, Hermanas de Nuestra Señora Consolación, Spain;
  • Mons. Faustino Armendáriz Jiménez, Obispo de Matamoros, México;
  • Archbishop José Gomez, Archdiocese of San Antonio;
  • Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, Archbishop Emeritus, Washington, D.C.

There were also a number of people known to Holy Cross: Alfonso Mirabal (Diocese of Dallas, Dallas Area Interfaith; Sr. Rosario, CMST, director of Hispanic ministry, Archdiocese of Oklahoma City; Fr. Frank Quesada, director of Hispanic ministry, Diocese of Colorado Springs.  There were also about 10 bishops who participated.

Archbishop Gómez of San Antonio Cardinal McCarrik attended all of the sessions and was principal celebrant and homilist at the closing Mass.
